Within the STBio department, technology development and transfer make it possible to turn research results into tangible solutions serving healthcare. Drawing on the Mines Saint-Étienne innovation ecosystem and the TEAM incubator, STBio supports technology maturation and its pathways into the socio-economic world. This momentum is reflected in particular in the emergence of the KaomX start-up, incubated and born out of the department’s work.
KaomX
KaomX designs, develops, and markets cutting-edge scientific instruments for life science research and R in biotechnology, meeting the needs of laboratories and health companies. Its first device, ElastomX, measures the elasticity of living biological tissues, providing volumetric, quantitative, and high-resolution elasticity maps for natural soft tissues and 3D bioprinted structures, with the ability to induce mechanical stimulation.
