The Mines Saint-Étienne library is committed to meeting the documentary needs of students, teacher-researchers, and doctoral students by offering them broad and varied access to high-quality academic and research resources, both on-site and remotely.

Access to Digital Resources and Databases
Through partnerships with major publishers, the library provides access to a selection of renowned databases (ISI Web of Knowledge, IEEE, Elsevier…). These resources cover all disciplines taught at the school, allowing students and researchers to consult thousands of academic journals, magazines, and newspapers in digital format. These resources can be accessed at the library or remotely for optimal flexibility.
Physical Collections: Over 20,000 Books Available
On-site, the library has more than 20,000 books, including textbooks, theses, general culture books, and numerous periodicals. The collection also includes more than 50 periodicals in print format and a heritage collection of 1,300 journals. An antique collection, rich with 10,000 documents, is accessible within the Saint-Étienne media library, thus offering a unique documentary heritage to enthusiasts of the history of science and technology.
Personalized Support for Document Research
The library team, composed of four qualified professionals, is attentive to users’ needs. It guides readers in their research and offers training workshops to familiarize them with document research tools. The library also offers an interlibrary loan service (ILL), allowing access to documents from other partner institutions.
Work Spaces and Digital Services
The library is also a modern workspace, equipped with computer workstations, tablets, printers, and scanners. These facilities facilitate individual and collaborative work for students and researchers in a quiet environment conducive to concentration.
Networks and Partnerships
Mines Saint-Étienne collaborates with other libraries in the city through the BRISE network, offering users extended access to local resources. The library is integrated into the University Documentation System (SUDOC), a national network that presents a catalog of more than 10 million records, thus ensuring national and international visibility for the School’s collections. Through this, researchers can access an extensive network of interlibrary loans.
Member of the Couperin Consortium
Mines Saint-Étienne is also a member of Couperin (University Consortium of Digital Periodicals), a French association grouping higher education and research institutions. This partnership allows the School to benefit from centralized negotiation for access to digital resources and to encourage the development of open science, thus guaranteeing the scientific community facilitated access to research publications.
The Mines Saint-Étienne library is much more than just a resource center: it’s a place of learning, sharing, and innovation, open to the entire School community to support their academic journey and research work.
