The Living Interface

The Bioelectronics (BEL) department provides access to a state-of-the-art infrastructure that is unique in France. This technical platform is dedicated to the design of nanometric probes, the analysis of complex biological signals, and the electrical characterization of bioelectronic interfaces.

A comprehensive environment for Bioengineering

Our platform offers an integrated ecosystem for moving from the molecule to the functional device. We support your projects in:

  • Molecular Biology & Biochemistry
Preparation and analysis of proteins and nucleic acids.
  • Microbiology & Immunology
Study of interactions between pathogens and electronic systems.
  • Cell Culture (L2)
Maintenance and growth of cell lines for biocompatibility and electrophysiology testing.

Expertise and High-Precision Equipment

The platform is structured around specialized experimental hubs for the biology–device interface:

1. Electrophysiology & Neuroengineering

We have critical tools to measure the electrical activity of living systems at the single-cell or tissue scale:

  • Patch-clamp
Measurement of cellular ionic currents with extreme precision.
  • MEA (Microelectrode Arrays)
Microelectrode arrays for multi-site recording of neuronal or cardiac networks.

2. Electrochemical Characterization

Assessment of the performance of conductive polymers and organic interfaces:

  • Potentiostats/Galvanostats
Study of impedance and signal transduction.
  • Biosensors
Analysis of the sensitivity and selectivity of nanometric probes.

3. Advanced Imaging & Microscopy

Real-time visualization of cellular dynamics on electronic substrates:

  • Fluorescence microscopy
    Specific labeling of cellular structures.
  • Video microscopy
Long-term monitoring of cell proliferation and migration.

💡 Why collaborate with our platform?

  • Transdisciplinarity
A team of experts combining physicists, electronics engineers, and biologists.
  • Materials Innovation
Unique specialization in flexible, biocompatible devices (organic electronics).
  • Flexible Access
Open to industrial partnerships for prototyping medical devices (implantable or wearable).
