The ‘158’: A Historic and Innovative Site

The 158 site is the historic heart of Mines Saint-Étienne. Inaugurated in 1927, it is ideally located in the south of the city, on Cours Fauriel. This emblematic site hosts a wide variety of programs, from the civil engineering degree (ICM) to Advance Master programs, Master of Science in Engineering degrees, and PhDs.

Biodiversity

A biodiversity audit has identified the strengths of the environmental management, and an action plan is in place to improve plant and animal biodiversity. Areas are left as wildflower meadows to encourage pollination. Insect hotels and beehives have been installed, and an eco-grazing service has been implemented.

Bird Protection League

The campus has signed a partnership agreement with the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds). Nesting boxes, stone piles, and wood piles have been installed to facilitate the establishment of diverse wildlife.

Beehives

When bees go green on campus: the school is committed to preserving precious pollinators by placing beehives on the roofs.
