The Engineers in Solidarity in Action (ISA) projects in the ISMIN programme are a unique component of the training at the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne. They offer engineering students the opportunity to engage in civic initiatives while developing skills in project management and teamwork.

What is an ISA project?

During semester 6, students dedicate half a day per week to civic projects organized in teams of 4 to 6 participants. These projects, supervised by teachers or external partners, cover various themes:

  • Humanitarian
Support for charitable associations or aid to populations in difficulty.
  • Social
Local actions to strengthen social bonds or improve living conditions.
  • Sustainable Development
Initiatives in favor of the environment or ecological transition.
  • Scientific Culture and Education
Organizing workshops to raise awareness about science among young people.

Objectives of ISA projects for companies and partners

  1. Support concrete and impactful actions
By collaborating with ISMIN students, partner companies or organizations can bring to life projects with strong local or societal impact.
  2. Showcase your civic engagement
Associate your company with solidarity initiatives and highlight your social responsibility.
  3. Collaborate with future engaged engineers
These projects allow you to build relationships with talented students, while benefiting from their dynamism and creativity.

Examples of completed ISA projects

  • Science Café
Creation and facilitation of a space for exchanges around scientific topics for the general public.
  • Scientific workshops in schools
Raising awareness about robotics and innovation among primary and middle school students.
  • Local solidarity projects
Participation in reforestation actions or support for social structures in Gardanne.
  • Creation of educational tools
Development of interactive materials to promote science among young people.

Why become a partner of an ISA project?

  • Local and societal impact
These projects directly contribute to the development of the region and its inhabitants.
  • Visibility and recognition
As a partner, you showcase your commitments to your employees and customers.
  • Collaboration with a school of excellence
Strengthen your ties with Mines Saint-Étienne and its academic and industrial ecosystem.

How to propose an ISA project?

Interested companies, associations, or local authorities can submit their project ideas to the ISMIN educational team. Each proposal is studied to ensure its alignment with the students’ objectives and local challenges.

Contribute to solidarity and inspiring actions while collaborating with the engineers of tomorrow.
