At the Centre for Biomedical and Healthcare Engineering (CIS), the development and technology transfer transform research advancements into concrete solutions for the healthcare sector. In close connection with Mines Saint-Étienne’s innovation ecosystem and the TEAM incubator, the CIS supports the maturation of technologies, their implementation, and their dissemination to socio-economic stakeholders. This dynamic is notably reflected in the emergence of two incubated start-ups, DALI and KaomX, emblematic of the transition from research to impact.
DALI (Decision Aid for Life Sciences)
DALI is a start-up founded by Martin Prodel (CEO, data scientist, PhD in health data) and Vincent Augusto (Chief Science Officer, research professor at Mines Saint-Étienne). Specializing in decision support for healthcare stakeholders (pharma, medical devices, agencies, clinics, medtech/biotech), it transforms underutilized data into actionable decisions through AI, simulation, and optimization. DALI offers tailor-made digital twins, predictive models, and scientific valorization of results, with the ambition to strengthen its ties with the School through research projects, internships, and CIFRE theses.
Incubated since June 2025
KaomX
KaomX designs, develops, and markets cutting-edge scientific instruments for life science research and R in biotechnology, meeting the needs of laboratories and health companies. Its first device, ElastomX, measures the elasticity of living biological tissues, providing volumetric, quantitative, and high-resolution elasticity maps for natural soft tissues and 3D bioprinted structures, with the ability to induce mechanical stimulation.
Incubated since December 2024
