Large-scale prototyping and transfer to industry

The Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) facility is dedicated to wire arc additive manufacturing, a technology particularly suited for producing large-scale metal parts. It enables the production of full-scale industrial functional prototypes, the conduct of R&D work, and support for technology transfer to companies.

What WAAM Offers

Large-scale industrial prototyping

The facility is designed for producing full-scale parts and prototypes, up to 650 × 500 × 1,000 mm.

Technology transfer and support

WAAM is leveraged for:

  • case studies and feasibility validations;
  • R&D work (processes, materials, trajectories, parameters);
  • transfer support and industrial maturity development.

Academics from TRL 3 to TRL 9

The facility offers Academics dedicated to the WAAM process, covering stages from proof of concept (TRL 3) to near-industrialization conditions (TRL 9), according to project needs.

Who is it for?

The WAAM facility is for:

  • industrial partners (prototyping, R&D, transfer);
  • research teams (projects, theses, demonstrators);
  • stakeholders wishing to receive training in the process.
