🏛️ Mines Saint-Étienne, an institution authorized to award PhDs

Mines Saint-Étienne is accredited to award the PhD within the ED SIS 488 Science Engineering and Health Doctoral School, in collaboration with Jean Monnet University and École Centrale de Lyon.

Based on a thesis subject, PhD students conduct research and are hosted within the School’s research centers, at the heart of an innovation ecosystem combining laboratories, technological platforms, and companies, and integrate into a dynamic scientific community recognized nationally and internationally.

The thesis defense represents the completion of scientific work of excellence and confers the degree of Doctor from the Institut Mines-Télécom, École nationale supérieure des Mines de Saint-Étienne.

✈️ A programme open to the world

The PhD is a programme open to the world, encouraging international mobility and joint-supervision theses (cotutelle). A cotutelle allows a PhD student to complete their thesis under the direction of two research supervisors from these two partner institutions. This type of programme aims to promote the international mobility of researchers, collaboration between two research laboratories, and the enrichment of research work.

Mines Saint-Étienne encourages every PhD student to benefit from a significant and enriching international experience as part of a mobility project resulting from an investment involving the PhD student and their laboratory, in collaboration with a foreign partner.
