The I4S department contributes to the academics of engineers, researchers, and professionals capable of designing, managing, and optimizing healthcare systems and services. Our teaching is based on the department’s expertise in operations research, industrial engineering, and data science, with direct applications to digital health and the improvement of healthcare organization performance.
Academics
Civil Engineering Programme (ICM)
The department is involved in several courses within the engineering Programme, at the intersection of health, digital technology, and quantitative methods:
- Challenge – Personalized Medicine / Digital Health
Projects and practical scenarios focusing on personalized medicine, connected health, and the use of health data. - Major – Production & Logistics Management
Tools and methods for planning, scheduling, and optimizing complex systems, with use cases inspired by the hospital and medico-social sectors. - ToolBox – Paradigms for Solving Discrete Problems
Approaches to model and solve combinatorial problems: formulation, heuristics, optimization, exact methods, and implementation on concrete examples.
Master of Science in Engineering Industrial Engineering & Operations Research
In-depth study of modeling, simulation, and optimization methods applied to industrial and service systems, including healthcare.
Preparatory and Diploma Programme in Engineering and Health (PDIS)
The department is involved in the PDIS, a Programme dedicated to the interface between engineering, mathematics, and health:
- Mathematics
- Development and mobilization of mathematical tools useful for modeling, analyzing, and optimizing healthcare systems and services.
Continuing Academics in Digital Health
I4S participates in continuing academics for health professionals, particularly concerning digital transformation challenges:
- DINUSA – Leaders and Digital Technology in Health
Programme conducted in partnership with EHESP, as part of the CMA (Skills and Future Professions / France 2030) project.
Student projects
The department hosts student projects directly related to its themes (optimization of hospital flows, decision support, connected health, digital tools in health).
These projects provide an opportunity to contribute to applied research work, in collaboration with the I4S team and its partners.
Internships
I4S regularly welcomes research interns (engineering or Master of Science in Engineering) for durations of 2 to 6 months, on topics aligned with the department’s research areas.
Internships allow for the development of initial research experience, with scientific supervision, tool implementation, and the production of valuable results.
