At Mines Saint-Étienne, we firmly believe that diversity is a strength and inclusion is essential in creating an environment where everyone can thrive. Our commitment is reflected in concrete actions aimed at ensuring equal opportunities and fostering a plurality of ideas, backgrounds, and talents.

A Welcoming Environment for All

We are committed to creating a work and study environment that welcomes and values each individual, regardless of origin, culture, gender, disability, or beliefs. We strive to ensure that every member of our school feels respected, heard, and supported. We believe that diverse perspectives enrich discussions and drive innovation.

Recognising Diverse Backgrounds

At Mines Saint-Étienne, we value academic, professional, and personal diversity. We understand that each individual brings unique strengths to our school. We actively encourage intercultural exchanges, international mobility, and the participation of students and researchers from diverse backgrounds. This openness fosters a stimulating learning environment, conducive to innovation and discovery.

Equal Opportunities and Personalised Support

We are committed to providing equal opportunities to all our students, teachers, and personnel. This is achieved through specific support programmes, regular awareness campaigns, and personalized support systems. We offer accommodations for individuals with disabilities and provide diversity and inclusion training for all our personnel.

Inclusion as a Driver of Innovation

Inclusion is a powerful catalyst for innovation. By fostering an environment where everyone can freely express their ideas, we stimulate creativity and encourage the development of new solutions to contemporary challenges. We believe that diverse viewpoints are crucial for innovation, and we strive to ensure that this diversity is represented and heard across all our educational and research activities.

Companies today seek talents who can work effectively in diverse teams. By studying in an inclusive environment, future engineers acquire valuable skills that are highly sought after by employers, enhancing their employability.

Supporting Student Associations for DiversitySoutien aux associations étudiantes pour promouvoir la diversité

The school maintains strong ties with its student associations and clubs, including WoMines (promoting gender equality), CominesOut (advocating LGBTQIA+ inclusion), BDE, HumaniMines, Solidar’ISMIN, and HuMines. It actively supports these groups in their innovative and inclusive projects, aligned with diversity-related challenges.

Additionally, the school participates in major events such as the Cpas1option seminar, which focuses on student well-being and responsible social events. These initiatives contribute to creating a respectful and inclusive environment, meeting both the practical needs and aspirations of students.

Creation of a “Diversity” Resource Collection at the Learning Center

In 2024, the Learning Center launched the creation of a diversity resource collection, accessible to all students and staff. This project, developed in collaboration with the Diversity Mission Officer and the Librarian, is based on a carefully curated bibliography, providing relevant resources on key societal issues.

This collection provides resources and tools for anyone seeking information on topics such as gender-based and sexual violence prevention (VSS), disability, mental health, and gender equality. A dedicated communication campaignaccompanies its launch to encourage engagement and accessibility for all.
