The SPIN Centre (Centre for Chemical Engineering) at Mines Saint-Étienne develops interdisciplinary research at the intersection of physics, chemical engineering, geoscience, chemistry and mathematical modelling, to address the challenges of industrial, energy and environmental transitions.
Joining SPIN means becoming part of a dynamic scientific community committed to understanding and mastering complex processes, whether industrial (manufacturing, processing, recycling) or natural (soils, porous media, resources).

Companies and industrial partners
Are you looking to model or optimise a process? To test a material or a fluid under complex conditions? To integrate the circular economy into your production flows?
The SPIN Centre supports you through:
- Characterisation, simulation, prototyping or testing services;
- Collaborative or co-funded research projects (CIFRE PhD positions, ANR, Europe);
- Access to experimental technology platforms.
Contact our team to review the collaboration arrangements best suited to your project.
A centre rooted in transitions
SPIN is part of an research and innovation ecosystem mobilised around major societal challenges: energy, recycling, resource management, sustainable processes, and physical and digital modelling of complex systems. It collaborates with numerous public and private stakeholders at local, national and European levels.
