Participate in the education of first-year students in the Ingénieur Civil des Mines cycle
You have the opportunity to propose a citizen project for the students of Mines de Saint-Étienne!
You will contribute to the education of engineering students and participate in the development of citizenship among 20-year-olds. The citizen project doesn’t necessarily involve a technical mission, even if the students are in an engineering school.
The Citizen Project is a collaboration between you, the students, and Mines Saint-Étienne.
Your project will be taken on by a group of 6 to 12 students, each with about one hundred and eighty hours in their schedule to complete it: that’s 1,000 to 2,100 hours dedicated entirely to your citizen project!
To successfully carry out their mission, each group of students is supervised by a teacher from the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne and supported by experts in project management and relationship management.
To motivate them, project teams participate in the Mines Saint-Étienne Alumni Citizen Project competition, where the best citizen project initiatives are awarded prizes.

The projects can be
- Related to science, social issues, humanitarian action, education, or culture.
- Of various types: field studies, technical creations, events, animation, communication, exhibitions…

The project team must
- Identify your expectations and meet them.
- Deliver the project as a concrete outcome, in line with your expectations.
- Know how to implement project management tools.

Students choose their project from those selected by the teachers.
If your project is chosen by a team of students, you will become their ‘partner’ and the citizen project will be carried out in close collaboration with you. You will thus be at the heart of the educational approach but also an actor in your project. Like any ‘normal partner’, you will be involved in the progress of the work, through meetings, steering committees, and also in the final evaluation of our students’ deliverables.
The projects take place in two phases: from late September to November for needs assessment and project framing, then from December to mid-June for execution.
Your involvement
- Participating in monitoring meetings, partner events, and the three committees.
- Responding promptly to enquiries from students and the teaching team.
- Contributing to the assessment of students’ final submissions.
Les contraintes
- The project must be feasible within less than one hour by public transport from Saint-Étienne.
- Les plages dédiées sont les lundis après-midi et mercredis après-midi.
Don’t wait any longer to submit your project!
Project submission deadline: June 1, 2026
