Mines Saint-Étienne and Its Partners Labeled ‘Campus of Excellence’

This label is a great recognition of the excellence pathways in the region, academic actors, and the socio-economic world where our school plays a leading role.

The ‘Industry of the Future – South’ Campus for Trades and Qualifications brings together actors from the microelectronics and computer science sectors around the School’s Aix-Marseille-Provence Campus for initial and continuing education, research, and innovation. Its objective is to build training paths from vocational certificates to Doctorate in microelectronics-computer science on the challenges of the Industry of the Future: additive manufacturing, collaborative robots, drones, advanced simulation, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things.

This campus benefits from funding under the PIA ‘Territory of Pedagogical Innovation’ program.

The Student House of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Campus of Mines Saint-Étienne

Located on campus, the Student House is a living space dedicated to students in the Microelectronic and Computer Systems Engineering (ISMIN) program. It offers a friendly environment conducive to studying, while providing numerous facilities to promote exchanges and cohesion among students.

This accommodation space is equipped with modern and comfortable rooms, study areas, and relaxation spaces that allow students to gather and recharge. The Student House also encourages community spirit through common areas and activities organized throughout the year.

Thanks to its ideal location in Gardanne, residents benefit from both the proximity to the campus, facilitating daily commutes, and access to the cultural and natural riches of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.

An Exceptional Natural Setting

Located a few kilometers from Aix-en-Provence and 20 minutes from Marseille, the campus enjoys an exceptional natural setting. It is surrounded by iconic landscapes such as the Sainte-Victoire massif and the Étoile mountain range. Students and staff can thus enjoy the Provençal quality of life, with quick access to cultural and sporting activities in the region.

Biodiversity

A biodiversity assessment has identified the strengths of environmental management, and an action plan is in place to improve plant and animal biodiversity. Areas are left as flowery fallow to promote pollination. Insect hotels and beehives have been installed, and eco-grazing services have been implemented.

Bird Protection League

The campus has signed a partnership agreement with LPO PACA. Bird nesting boxes, stone piles, and wood piles are installed to facilitate the establishment of diverse fauna.

Eco-grazing

The School has replaced mechanical mowing with an eco-grazing solution on the campus meadows using Mourerous sheep, a typical Provençal breed endemic to the Southern Alps.

Beehives

When bees go green on Campus: alongside Créabeille, the School is committed to preserving the precious pollinating insects that are bees.
