The Manufacturing Sciences and Logistics Department (SFL) at Mines Saint-Étienne offers several academic programs focused on information technologies and supply chain management.

Information Technologies and Supply Chain (ITS)

The ITS track is an advanced specialization designed for third-year students in the ISMIN engineering program. Led primarily by the faculty of the Manufacturing Sciences and Logistics Department (SFL), it aims to train computer science engineers who are able to:

  • Understand the complexity of logistics processes and develop decision-support tools to efficiently manage supply chains;
  • Integrate new communication technologies into information systems.

The skills acquired cover four main disciplines:

  • Computer Science
  • Communication Technologies
  • Optimization and Decision Support
  • Logistics

The program consists of four core modules and two hands-on learning experiences:

  • Communication Technologies and Supply Chains
Covers short-range communication technologies and their integration into supply chains.
  • Goods and Services Production
Focuses on production planning, scheduling, and healthcare production, with industrial seminars and site visits.
  • Transport and Distribution
Addresses vehicle routing, warehouse management, and forecasting, supplemented by seminars and visits.
  • Technical Management
Includes focused lectures on topics such as supply chain strategy, intermodal transport, inter/intra-organizational management, Lean Management, information systems, and reverse logistics.
  • Study Project
Conducted in teams, this project involves developing a software prototype, a proof of concept, or conducting an in-depth study.
  • Six-Month Internship
Required to complete the final year of study, with past internships conducted at companies such as Sopra Group, Thales Avionics, Nheolis, Amadeus, Eurocopter, ST, INESC Porto, Accenture, and Dassault Systèmes.

ITS Master’s Program in Industrial Engineering

The ITS Master’s program in Industrial Engineering is an additional academic option linked to the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research track at Mines Saint-Étienne. It is exclusively available to ISMIN studentswho have chosen the ITS specialization.

ITS International Track

Adapted from the original ITS specialization, the ITS International Track is designed for exchange students and focuses on key aspects of information technologies and supply chain management. It includes four core modules:

  • Information Technologies for Supply Chains
  • Practical Modeling and Optimization in Logistics
  • Semiconductor Manufacturing
  • Communication Technologies for Supply Chains

The SFL Department currently maintains academic cooperation agreements with the following institutions:

  • Eindhoven University of Technology – Industrial Engineering (TU/e – IE)
  • Karlsruhe Institute of Technology – Industrial Engineering and Management (KIT-IEM)
  • National Taiwan University – Institute of Industrial Engineering (NTU-IIE)
  • Universidad de los Andes – Industrial Engineering
