Multidisciplinary Engineers – Full-time Programme
Mines Saint-Étienne offers three full-time engineering programmes.
They are primarily accessible via two national competitive exams after a scientific preparatory class.
- The Mines-Ponts joint entrance exam (CCMP) to join the Ingénieur Civil des Mines (ICM) program in Saint-Étienne or the FUSION programme as a dual degree with emlyon,
- The Mines-Télécom Competitive Exam (CMT) to access the Systems, Microelectronics and Computer Science Engineer (ISMIN) program, on the Aix-Marseille-Provence campus.
These programs, accredited by the Commission for Engineering Degrees (CTI), combine academic excellence, international openness, corporate immersion, and strong ties with research and innovation. Mines Saint-Étienne thus trains responsible engineers, committed to the sustainable transformation of industry, regions, and society.
Work-Study Engineers in partnership with ISTP
In partnership with ISTP, Mines Saint-Étienne’s work-study engineering programs allow students to obtain an engineering degree accredited by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur (CTI), while combining the acquisition of academic skills with professional immersion in a company. Open to students with a scientific or technological L2 or L3 degree, these courses are offered under apprentice or employee status.
ISTP, with its 30 years of experience in work-study engineering training, has developed an educational engineering approach that places the exploitation of professional situations at the heart of the training system.
Work-study is an excellent path to becoming an engineer, with progressive specialization in strategic fields. It guarantees rapid professional integration, solid field experience, and training adapted to the concrete needs of the economic world.
Specialized Engineering Programs
Master’s-level programmes in work-study format to support digital, industrial, and ecological transitions
Mines Saint-Étienne offers two specialized engineering programs, accredited by the Commission for Engineering Degrees (CTI).
They are aimed at Bac+5 graduates and professionals seeking career advancement or retraining who wish to develop cutting-edge expertise, immediately applicable in companies.
These two one-year programs, available as work-study and continuing education, offer field-based pedagogy, direct contact with organizations, and a strong grounding in future transformations.
Preparatory Cycle
The Preparatory and Degree Cycle in Engineering and Health (PDIS) is a unique two-year post-secondary programme in France, designed as an alternative to preparatory classes (CPGE) and the medical school entrance examination. This selective programme is designed for final-year high school students wishing to explore the fields of engineering and health, without having to immediately choose between these two paths. Upon completion of the programme, students obtain two degrees: an institutional degree ‘PDIS’ from Mines Saint-Étienne and a Bachelor’s degree ‘Health Sciences’ from Jean Monnet University, enabling them to pursue further studies in engineering or health.
National Master’s Degrees (DNM)
Mines Saint-Étienne Master’s Programmes allow students to deepen their knowledge in a scientific or technological field, consolidate expertise, and, depending on the chosen path, prepare for roles in R&D, advanced engineering, or for pursuing a doctorate. They combine Master’s level courses, projects, and long-term assignments (thesis and/or internship) within a demanding academic framework and in connection with contemporary challenges.
Erasmus Mundus Master’s Programmes
Joint European programmes, delivered within an international consortium, integrating multi-campus mobility and a strong intercultural dimension.
Masters of Science (MSc)
Specialization and advanced training programmes, built around high-level skills and methods.
Doctoral Programme
Mines Saint-Étienne’s doctoral program is aimed at holders of a master’s level degree wishing to engage in in-depth research work within the school’s laboratories. It prepares students for obtaining the doctoral degree, a national degree awarded on behalf of the State. The doctorate allows for the development of high-level scientific expertise, with career opportunities in academic, industrial, and institutional environments, both in France and internationally.

Advanced Master® (MS)
The Advance Master (MS) programmes accredited by the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE) are high-level programmes designed to develop in-depth expertise in a specific field. Open to applicants after a Bac+5 or Bac+4, with or without professional experience, these professionally oriented programmes aim for rapid, qualified entry into the job market. They combine specialised teaching, practical application and a close alignment with the needs of businesses and sectoral innovation.

Skills Assessment Delivered by Grandes Écoles (BADGE)
The Skills Assessment Delivered by Grandes Écoles (BADGE) is a certification created by the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE), designed to recognize skills acquired through continuing education. Designed for working professionals, this certifying programme enables the development or strengthening of targeted expertise, directly aligned with business needs. Flexible, professionally oriented, and recognized, it is intended for individuals seeking to advance their career or validate their experience through a grande école certification.
