The Concours Commun Mines-Ponts is the main admission route to the Ingénieur Civil des Mines (ICM) program.

It is intended for students in scientific preparatory classes (CPGE) wishing to join one of France’s most prestigious engineering schools.

Partner Schools for the Examination

The examination is jointly organized by ten leading engineering schools:

Mines Paris – PSL, Mines Nancy, Mines Saint-Étienne, Télécom Paris, IMT Atlantique, ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris, Ponts ParisTech, ISAE-Supaéro, and Chimie ParisTech.

Eligible Tracks

This examination is for students enrolled in the second year of scientific preparatory classes (CPGE) in the following tracks:

40 MP – Mathematics-Physics
20 MPI – Mathematics-Physics-Computer Science
42 PC – Physics-Chemistry
45 PSI – Physics and Engineering Sciences
6 PT – Physics and Technology
2 TSI – Technology and Industrial Sciences

Application Procedures

  • Registration opens: early December
  • Closing date: mid-January
  • Procedure: online registration on the official examination website
  • Tests: common written exams + oral admission exams depending on the track
  • Places offered at Mines Saint-Étienne: 155 places per year
