Mines Saint-Étienne welcomes many international students each year as part of the Ingénieur Civil des Mines (ICM) programme.
The school maintains academic partnerships worldwide and offers several admission pathways depending on the candidate’s profile.
The ICM programme offers instruction primarily in French, with some courses and modules in English, allowing all students to gradually adapt to the French academic context while developing their language skills.
1. Exchange or Double Degree Students
Candidates from a partner institution can join the ICM programme:
- in the 2nd year (Master 1 level) for one or two semesters,
- in the 3rd year (Master 2 level) for one semester,
- or as part of a double degree (2nd and 3rd years).
Admission Procedure
Students from partner institutions must contact the academic administration department of their home institution.
2. Direct Applicants (free-movers)
Candidates from non-partner universities can apply directly to Mines Saint-Étienne.
Two main pathways exist:
- Joint recruitment by the Institut Mines-Télécom in China and Colombia.
- GEI-UNIV procedure for other countries.
Required Level
- Minimum of 4 years of higher education in science, technology, or engineering.
- Possible exemption for 3 years of study with admission to the 2nd year.
3. Language Requirements
- Minimum B1 level in French (TCF, TFI, TEF, DELF, or DALF tests).
- Minimum B1+ level in English (TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS, etc.).
