The Maison des Élèves: A Place for Social Interaction
Residents of the Maison des Élèves (ME) have access to a dining area and communal kitchen:
- Equipped kitchen on each floor for preparing meals,
- ME Cafeteria, open to all students, offering hot meals, snacks, drinks, and breakfast,
- Shared meals and festive events regularly organized by ME clubs.
The ME promotes community life and autonomy, while remaining a warm and friendly place.
Responsible and Sustainable Dining
Mines Saint-Étienne and the CROUS are committed to responsible food practices:
- use of local and seasonal products,
- development of short supply chains,
- reduction of food waste,
- selective sorting and valorization of biowaste,
- promotion of eco-responsibility in collective catering.
Students are also involved in these initiatives through sustainable projects and initiatives led by the school’s associations.
Food Banks
To combat food insecurity, Mines Saint-Étienne has opened free solidarity grocery stores on its campuses in Saint-Étienne and Aix-Marseille-Provence. These stores offer quality essential products (rice, pasta, canned goods, hygiene products) to students in need.
- The Saint-Étienne solidarity grocery store “Off Course(s)” is run by two volunteers, including a staff member and a student. It is located on the School premises and opens on Mondays from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
