The FUSION programme is an excellent dual degree between Mines Saint-Étienne and emlyon business school, designed to train engineer-managers at the crossroads of technology, management, and innovation.

Two Schools, Two Admission Paths

Each partner school manages its own recruitment procedure.

  • Mines Saint-Étienne recruits students primarily from science preparatory classes and GEI-UNIV university pathways,
  • emlyon business school recruits candidates from economic and commercial preparatory classes (BCE) or its own parallel admissions.

Both schools each select 25 students, who together form a single inter-school cohort of 50 FUSION students.
The programme’s coordination is jointly managed by both institutions.

Recruitment Procedure – Mines Saint-Étienne

1. Recruitment via the Concours Commun Mines-Ponts (CCMP)

Students from the MP, PC, PSI, PT, TSI, and MPI streams can join the FUSION dual degree programme after admission to Mines Saint-Étienne via the Concours Commun Mines-Ponts.

How to apply?

After publication of the eligibility results for the Concours Commun Mines-Ponts:

  1. Candidates admitted to Mines Saint-Étienne must send by email a cover letter explaining their interest in the FUSION dual degree programme and the specific added value they expect from it to:
    dd-fusion@mines-stetienne.fr.
  2. This letter must be submitted after the eligibility results and by the end of August at the latest.
  • Candidates will be selected based on their application file by a joint Mines / emlyon jury.
  • The FUSION admission jury meets after the CCMP calls.
  • The FUSION programme admission results are communicated individually by email.

2. Recruitment by Academic Record – University Pathway (GEIUNIV)

This recruitment is for university students (third year Bachelor’s or first year Master’s) enrolled in a scientific, technological, or economic programme.

Number of places: 1.

GEIUNIV Procedures

  • Common procedure for 15 engineering schools for application submission and written examinations.
  • The written examinations serve as probationary assessments that complement the academic record.
  • Each school establishes its own eligibility list then invites candidates for an oral interview.

Oral Examinations at Mines Saint-Étienne

  • Individual interview with the jury.
  • Motivation assessment specific to the FUSION dual degree programme.

Mandatory Cover Letter

All candidates admitted via GEI-UNIV and wishing to join the FUSION programme must submit a letter before the end of August 2024 detailing their motivation and professional project within the framework of the dual degree programme to:

Selection Procedure and Criteria

Selection is based on:

  • the ranking in the competitive examination (or academic results for GEIUNIV),
  • the cover letter and the coherence of the personal project,
  • the motivation to pursue an interdisciplinary and demanding curriculum,
  • the ability to thrive in an international and collaborative environment.

The admission jury is composed of faculty members from Mines Saint-Étienne and emlyon business school.


Recruitment Procedure – emlyon business school

emlyon students can join FUSION via:

  • the BCE Competitive Examination (ECG, ECT, B/L preparatory classes),
  • or the emlyon internal Competitive Examination (scientific preparatory classes).
  • Number of places: 25
