The Master of Science in Engineering GPIA is structured around a two-year curriculum:
- M1: acquisition of fundamentals in process engineering
- M2: specialization in advanced processes or applied artificial intelligence
The Academics are supported by a reference laboratory, the Georges Friedel Laboratory (LGF – CNRS UMR 5307), guaranteeing strong immersion in research and innovation.
Overall Structure
| Year | Content | Hours | Delivery Methods |
|---|---|---|---|
| Master of Science in Engineering 1 | Fundamentals of Process Engineering (achieved through equivalence at UCBL Lyon 1) | 300 h (Semester 1) + 200 h (Semester 2) | Courses + Internship |
| Master of Science in Engineering 2 | Track Process Engineering or Artificial Intelligence | 300 h | Courses + Company Internship |
Academics taught entirely in English.
MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ENGINEERING 1 – Fundamentals of Process Engineering
M1 can be completed:
- either within the Process and Bioprocess Engineering track at Claude Bernard University Lyon 1,
- or by equivalence for students from compatible backgrounds (chemistry, mechanical engineering, materials, etc.).
The curriculum covers:
🔹 Semester 1 (300 h)
- Applied Thermodynamics
- Heat and Mass Transfer
- Unit Operations
- Chemical Kinetics
- Applied Mathematics / Numerical Methods
- Instrumentation and Measurements
🔹 Semester 2 (200 h)
- Process Modeling
- Biochemical Engineering or Bioprocesses (depending on the track at Lyon 1)
- Process Simulation and Design
- Applied Internship (8 to 12 weeks)
MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ENGINEERING 2 – Process Engineering & Artificial Intelligence (GPIA)
🔹 Semester 3 (300 h)
M2 is based on a common core “Process Engineering for Energy” and a specialization choice at the end of the semester.
Common Core – Process Engineering for Energy (160 h)
Process Simulation & Thermodynamics
- Process Simulation
- Advanced Thermodynamics
- Complex Thermodynamic Equilibria
Matter-Energy Conversion
