The Master of Science in Engineering Process Engineering & Artificial Intelligence (GPIA) is a national degree awarded by Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and Mines Saint-Étienne. As such, the registration fees are those set annually at the national level for Master’s degrees.
Tuition and mandatory fees
National tuition fees (set by the Ministry)
Amounts may vary slightly each year.
- European students (EU / EEA / Switzerland):
€254 / year - Non-European Union students
€3,941 / year
Other mandatory fees
- Student and Campus Life Contribution (CVEC) ≈ €105 / year
Mandatory annual fee payable by all students enrolled in initial education (except scholarship holders). It must be paid before administrative registration. - Civil liability insurance
Mandatory for all educational activities, including access to technological platforms and internships.
Who pays what for the Master of Science in Engineering GPIA program?
The program is based on a co-accreditation:
- Master of Science in Engineering Year 1: Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1
- Master of Science in Engineering Year 2: courses delivered by Mines Saint-Étienne
👉 Administrative registration remains with Université Lyon 1, which ensures national fees apply.

Internship Remuneration
- Mandatory stipend
The mandatory internship of 4 to 6 months (Master’s Thesis) entitles students to a mandatory minimum monthly stipend in accordance with French legislation. - Summer Internship
It is also possible to complete a 3-month summer internship (with mandatory remuneration) between the 1st and 2nd year of the master’s program. - Mobility Grants
Internships conducted at international partner laboratories may be eligible for additional mobility grants (Erasmus+, regional aid).
