A unique dual expertise: advanced processes & applied AI
The Master of Science in Engineering GPIA trains engineers capable of understanding, modeling, and optimizing industrial processes while integrating modern artificial intelligence approaches. Jointly designed by Mines Saint-Étienne and Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, the program combines scientific excellence, innovation, and immersion in research.
Rooted in the Laboratoire Georges Friedel (LGF – UMR CNRS 5307), the Master of Science in Engineering relies on a high-level research environment and an extensive network of industrial partners related to energy, processes, and materials.

Candidate Profiles
The Master of Science in Engineering welcomes:
- students holding a Licence (180 ECTS) or an M1 (240 ECTS) in process engineering, chemistry, physics, mechanics, materials, or related disciplines
- international students with equivalent qualifications
- candidates motivated by modeling, energy, simulation, or applied AI
The program is taught entirely in English.
Two specialization tracks for Master of Science in Engineering Year 2
Process Engineering Track
To specialize in complex processes, energy-matter conversion, thermal engineering, and simulation.
Artificial Intelligence Track
To understand and apply AI tools to process engineering challenges (machine learning, pattern recognition, advanced statistics).
