Join an excellent international Master of Science in Engineering in process engineering, energy, and artificial intelligence

The Master of Science in Engineering Process Engineering & Artificial Intelligence (GPIA) recruits French and international candidates with a strong scientific background who wish to specialize in process engineering, energy, or applied artificial intelligence. Admission is based on application review, to assess academic level, consistency of academic background, motivation, and ability to follow a demanding program. The program is entirely taught in English; therefore, English proficiency is a decisive prerequisite.

Target Audience and Prerequisites

The Master of Science in Engineering GPIA is intended for students from scientific or engineering backgrounds who wish to acquire expertise at the interface of process engineering/energy and numerical methods/AI. International applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis to assess diploma equivalency.

Eligibility Requirements

Entry Levels

Admission LevelRequired DegreeCandidate Profile
Entry into First year of Master’sBachelor’s Degree (180 ECTS) in science or engineeringStrong foundation in fundamental sciences; interest in process engineering, energy, and numerical approaches.
Direct Admission to M2Master 1 (240 ECTS) or equivalent, in science or engineeringDemonstrated mastery of M1 fundamentals; consistent profile in process engineering/energy/chemical engineering and/or proven aptitude for applied AI.

Direct Admission to M2: this admission route is more demanding. The application must demonstrate mastery of the fundamentals expected at the end of M1.

Typically Admitted Profiles

  • Science Students: Bachelor’s Degree in process engineering, chemistry, energy, physics, mechanical engineering, mathematics… (or equivalent 180 ECTS).
  • M1-level Students: Scientific or engineering M1 (240 ECTS); students from engineering schools or compatible international programmes.
  • International Candidates: degrees evaluated on a case-by-case basis to verify equivalence and suitability for the programme.

Direct Admission to M2

Direct admission to M2 GPIA is possible for:

  • students who have completed a relevant M1;
  • engineering students at Bac+4 level;
  • international candidates with advanced training in process engineering, energy, or chemical engineering.

This admission route is more demanding: the application must demonstrate mastery of the fundamentals expected at the end of M1.

Tips to Strengthen Your Application

  • Highlight your scientific skills (maths/physics/engineering) and your knowledge in process engineering/energy if relevant.
  • Illustrate your interest in applied AI (courses, projects, tools, practices).
  • Showcase internships, projects, practical work, laboratory, or industrial experience.
  • Clearly articulate a coherent professional project and how GPIA contributes to it.

Application Procedure

Selection, carried out by the academic committee, takes place in three stages.

1. Submission of the application file

The complete application file must contain, at a minimum, the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV), detailing your academic background and professional experience/internships.
  • Motivation Letter, explaining your professional project and its relevance to the Master of Science in Engineering.
  • Official Transcripts for your entire academic career (Bachelor’s and Master 1).
  • Diplomas: copies of your previous diplomas.
  • English Proficiency Certificate (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS or equivalent) if English is not the applicant’s native language or language of instruction.
  • French Language Test (TEF, DELF…) for non-French-speaking students.
  • Recommendations: academic and/or professional recommendation letters (optional depending on the application platform).

A. French and European Union applicants

B. International Applicants: “Études en France” Procedure

If you are a foreign student not a national of the EEA (nor Switzerland/Monaco/Andorra) and reside in a country covered by “Études en France”, you must complete two steps:

This step is essential to obtain a visa and may also provide access to scholarships.

International students are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

2. Review of the application file by the academic committee

The criteria assessed are:

  • the academic level and the fit of the academic background,
  • the coherence of the career plan,
  • transversal skills (motivation, rigour, ability to work).

3. Selection interview (optional)

An interview (remote or in person) may be organised to:

  • better understand the motivation,
  • clarify the intended track,
  • verify certain prerequisites.
