A Vibrant School, an Engaged Community
Student life is an integral part of ISMIN’s pedagogy and culture.
Supervised by the Student Union (BDE), the Sports Office (BDS), and numerous associations, it develops in students a sense of initiative, responsibility, and collective spirit.
Associations for All Interests
Students have the opportunity to join or create a multitude of clubs and associations:
- Sports: football, handball, volleyball, climbing, running, tennis, swimming…
- Technical: robotics, electronics, programming, 3D printing.
- Cultural and Artistic: photography, music, theater, drawing, cinema.
- Community and Civic: humanitarian aid, ecology, scientific awareness.
- Festive and Event-based: party organization, integration weekends, gala, etc.
The Aix-Marseille-Provence campus boasts modern facilities: multi-sports ground, gym, outdoor fields, and association spaces in the Student House, a true hub for meetings and creativity.
Student Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The spirit of innovation is in the DNA of the ISMIN curriculum.
Engineering students are encouraged to undertake, experiment, and develop new solutions throughout their training.
Key initiatives:
- Mines Études et Projets (MEP), the Junior Enterprise of Mines Saint-Étienne, allows students to carry out engineering consulting assignments for companies, startups, and local authorities.
- The Convergence Challenge, an innovation and creativity competition, invites students to address real industrial challenges by integrating issues of sustainability and social responsibility.
- Innovation and entrepreneurship-oriented clubs (robotics, cybersecurity, data science, design, green technologies, FabLab) foster experimentation and collaborative design.
These experiences develop both technical skills and an entrepreneurial mindset, while preparing students to lead innovation projects in industry or to create their own businesses.
Student Engagement and Civic Projects
Societal engagement is highly valued in the ISMIN curriculum.
From the first year, students participate in the “Engineers in Solidarity in Action” project, a field experience that connects engineering and social responsibility.
Beyond this project, each student can get involved in a civic, environmental, or associative initiative recognized by the school.
These commitments help develop:
- the initiative and team management,
- a sense of collective responsibility,
- and a better understanding of social and environmental issues.
The school supports these initiatives, which can be valued in the academic curriculum and integrated into the student’s skills portfolio.
In Gardanne, student life and civic projects are real driving forces: you learn to innovate, to take initiative, and to get involved, while building strong friendships.Mathilde
