On the occasion of the “Deciding in the Digital Health Era” event, Mines Saint-Étienne and the School of Advanced Studies in Public Health (EHESP) sealed a 5-year alliance. This partnership aims to strengthen the digital skills of healthcare sector leaders to accelerate the modernization of the care system and the efficiency of organizations through engineering sciences.

Recognition of women scientists: the name of Marcelle Schrameck, the first Mines Saint-Étienne graduate, will be inscribed on the Eiffel Tower
Anne-Marcelle Schrameck, a graduate of Mines Saint-Étienne (1919) and a pioneer of the School, is among the women scientists whose names will be inscribed in gold letters on the Eiffel Tower. The City of Paris, the Femmes & Sciences association, and the Eiffel Tower Operating Company have chosen 72 women scientists whose names will join those of the 72 male scientists inscribed since 1889.

Inauguration of the DISC-AER LabCom: a 100% carbon-free regional aircraft operational by 2033
Mines Saint-Étienne, the start-up eenuee, and the ANR are launching the DISC-AER joint laboratory. This public-private partnership, supported by the ANR with €360,000, aims to design a 19-passenger electric aircraft using innovative composite materials to reduce CO2 emissions by 90%.

The SPOT (Students & Partners Open Transfer) project transforms the campus’s former canteen into a 1,200 m² space dedicated to synergy between training, research, and business. Funded with 3 million euros, this site will notably host the IoT-Center and La Rotonde’s programming to strengthen the economic and technological dynamism of the region.

Mines Saint-Étienne opens an IoT Center on its Provence campus: an innovation accelerator for SMEs
Inaugurated on June 19, 2025, in Gardanne, the IoT Center is a unique venue allowing VSEs and SMEs in the Sud region to experiment with connected solutions and accelerate their digital transformation. Integrated into the European Move2digital project, this 75 m2 center provides state-of-the-art equipment and tailored support to validate the technical feasibility of innovative projects before any major investment.

Fives launches HyGen: €7.5M to develop carbon-free mobility using liquid hydrogen

From the smart card to electronic skin: 50 years of innovation
The Centre of Microelectronics in Provence, a major player in innovation.
50 years ago, on March 25, 1972, French engineer Roland Moreno filed the 1st patent for the “electronic payment chip”. This innovation revolutionized transactions by integrating a microprocessor into a portable plastic medium allowing for the secure storage and processing of individual data. The smart card has evolved over the last decades, moving from payment operations to phone cards, SIM cards, transport cards… It paved the way for major advances in microelectronics.
