During the opening week from March 18 to 22, students in the Eco-Fab module built 10 deck chair prototypes from reused materials in an eco-design approach.
This collaborative and remarkable work was carried out in multidisciplinary teams by 7 third-year ICM students, 19 students from the Master of Science in Engineering Prospective Design program (Mines Saint-Étienne/UJM/ESADSE), and 15 first-year students in the national diploma in arts and design (DNMADe Lycée Honoré d’Urfé).
Working in the Prototyping Space on the Saint-Étienne campus, they received technical and educational support from Baptiste Menu, Apolline Roux, Hubert Taxil, and Jenny Faucheu.
Continuation of the Prototyping Educational Group on the GC Provence Campus – Series 2 – March 11, 2019
Following the modeling and dimensioning of electrodes using COMSOL software, the engineering students in the Prototyping Educational Group assembled their electronic boards and tested the touch-sensitive functionalities of their devices. During this stage, they learned to solder very small SMD components that require great precision—all successfully completed the exercise!

The next step will lead them to finalize the dimensioning of their electrodes for manufacturing using the tools (CNC, chemical etching, etc.) in the prototyping workshop of the ID-FAB project.
