Nearly 870 new students will be welcomed for the 2019 academic year at Mines Saint-Étienne: engineering students, Master of Science in Engineering students, doctoral candidates, and those in specialized, professional, and employee-status training. More than 90 international students are being welcomed to our campuses (within the ICM, ISMIN, and Master’s programs).

Not all students have started the new academic year yet, but forecasts are on the rise. Two new programs are welcoming their first cohort this year: the Master of Science (MSc) in Health Management & Data Intelligence (Mines Saint-Étienne / EM Lyon business school, 17 students) and the Advance Master in Polluted Sites and Soils Project Management (recruitment ongoing).

140 ICM students for the class of 2019, recruited via the Mines-Ponts common competitive exam: 48 MP, 38 PC, 46 PSI, 5 PT, 3 TSI), including 27% women.
51 students admitted based on qualifications and 18 guest auditors were welcomed into the 2nd and 3rd years of the curriculum (including international students: 37 AST and 10 AL).
83 ISMIN students were recruited via the Mines-Télécom competitive exam (36 MP, 10 PC, 24 PSI, 8 PT, 5 TSI).

96 students will pursue a Master of Science in Engineering this year, including 58 in double-degree programs (48 ICM students, 10 ISMIN students) and 27 international students.

Recruitment is ongoing for engineering students and employee-status training (~ 415 students), professional training (Advance Masters and Badge), and doctorates.

Integration @Mines Saint-Étienne

From September 5 to 8, new engineering students participated in the traditional start-of-year integration trips, supervised by staff and 2nd-year students: 4 days of hiking, sports, and civic activities through a participatory work project to bond our cohorts and allow our students to concretely experience the school’s values.

On the Vercors plateau, the 140 new ICM students (for the 30th anniversary of a unique integration trip 1989-2019!) contributed to the restoration of the historic Vassieux windmills site.

In the heart of the Écrins National Park, the new ISMIN class of 2019 participated effectively in maintenance work on the Villard irrigation canal in Vallouise.

International students also benefit from personalized support, including a welcome day in the Pilat, various cultural, sporting, and social activities, and actions implemented by the School’s administrative teaching teams and the student association Mines International Students 2019-2020.
