The official CNRS 2019 medal ceremony took place at ENS Lyon on December 11: Romain Quey, research fellow at Laboratoire Georges Friedel, UMR CNRS/Mines Saint-Étienne, received the CNRS Bronze Medal, recognizing the activities of a young researcher.

Our renewed congratulations for this excellent recognition of his work on the deformation of polycrystalline materials. The medal was presented by Frédéric Faure, Director of the CNRS Regional Delegation, and Laurent Nicolas, Deputy Scientific Director (section 8) representing INSIS.
Romain Quey is a CNRS research fellow at the Laboratoire Georges Friedel, a joint research unit of Mines Saint-Étienne / CNRS, UMR 5307 (Institute of Engineering and Systems Sciences, INSIS), within the Physics and Mechanics for the Metallurgy team, department of the Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering center.

This distinction recognizes Romain Quey’s three flagship activities: a remarkable achievement for IMT, Mines Saint-Étienne, and Laboratoire Georges Friedel, UMR CNRS 5307.

After heartfelt thanks, Romain Quey dedicated his medal to Julian Driver, his thesis supervisor who passed away in May 2018.


 

Romain Quey also attended the CNRS 80th anniversary ceremony in Paris on November 26, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, several ministers, including Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the Chairman and CEO of CNRS, Antoine Petit, and representatives of French, European, and international research.
