On Thursday, April 10, 2025, the SMS (Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering) and SPIN (Science of Industrial and Natural Processes) centers enthusiastically celebrated their 30 years of existence within Mines Saint-Étienne. To mark this important milestone, the School’s staff were invited to participate in an immersive treasure hunt in the premises at 158 cours Fauriel.

In total, nearly 90 people divided into 13 teams took on the challenge of a treasure hunt with riddles to solve that guided them randomly to about ten meeting points (5 per center) to discover or rediscover the activities of the researchers. At each stage, the staff enthusiastically shared their passion by answering two key questions:
🔍 What is it for?
🚀 What does it enable us to develop?

The perfect opportunity to highlight the diversity of work conducted within the two centers, their scientific, industrial, and societal impact, as well as to strengthen ties between teams.

The afternoon concluded with a friendly gathering at Les Cabanes, allowing everyone to continue the exchanges.

📅 Save the date: the festivities will continue on June 12! This time, the centers will open their doors to partners, elected officials, former collaborators… for a new celebration full of discoveries and shared memories.
