Madina Naukanova, a Master’s student, and Guanghu Sui, an ICM engineering student, were recognised for their innovative project at the Young Ambassadors Awards 2019 ceremony held at the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Council headquarters on April 4: “a wonderful distinction following a highly selective competition!”

Each year, the Young Ambassadors programme connects international students with companies in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The awards recognise innovative, practical projects that create links between the region and the young ambassadors’ countries of origin.

Madina Naukanova, a Kazakh Master’s student in Process Engineering and Industrial Energy Efficiency, received a special mention in the “promising project” category for her project: “La Nuit du handicap“.
Coached by Bruno Laroche, R&D Director at Focal-JMlab, she aims to develop a long-term partnership between France and Kazakhstan to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities. The objective is to facilitate the development of wheelchair dance as a competitive sport in Saint-Étienne.

Guanghu Sui, a Chinese student in the 2nd year of the ICM programme, received the “Attractiveness” Award from the jury for his project: “Virtual Reality Tour of Franco-Chinese UNESCO Design Cities”.
Coached by Dominique Bouchet, President of Opéya France, his project aims to organise tours of Saint-Étienne, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing and Wuhan. Thanks to Virtual Reality technology, French and Chinese visitors will be able to immerse themselves in an artistic atmosphere, discover each city’s design, and deepen their knowledge.

“This programme contributes to the Region’s international profile and that of its main university cities as part of the sponsorship”.

We extend our warmest congratulations to our two international award winners, who will now carry their project through to completion.
