A true highlight of the integration process, the uniform fitting took place on the Saint-Étienne and Aix-Marseille-Provence campuses. A symbolic moment, evoking the transmission of the School’s history and values to the younger generation.
Traditionally organized by the Mines Saint-Étienne Alumni association on the historic campus, and by the Student Union (BDE) ISMIN on the Aix-Marseille-Provence campus, this initiative allows all those who wish to acquire the School’s traditional uniform.
On this occasion, fitting rooms were set up in a classroom so that everyone could discover the different pieces and make their selection:
- Trousers or skirt
- Jacket
- Kepi
- Shoes
- Gloves
- Sword
History, values and prestige
Mines Saint-Étienne is one of the few civilian schools to have a uniform. A mark of cohesion and pride, it was created at the request of students in the 19th century.
Sometimes popular, sometimes neglected, it was brought back into fashion in 2005 by ISMIN students. Since then, its success has been unwavering: more than 200 fittings were carried out for the class of 2026!
Deeply attached to tradition, students wear this prestigious attire for major occasions: national holidays, the Sainte-Barbe parade, and graduation ceremonies in particular.
