The autumn conference of the OQUAIDO Chair in Applied Mathematics “Optimization and Quantification of Uncertainties for Costly Data” will take place at Mines Saint-Étienne from November 26 to 28.
On this occasion, a public round table will provide a technical and human assessment of these four years dedicated to small data and explore new perspectives.

The chair’s bi-annual meeting brings together about fifty engineers and researchers working on projects related to small data: mathematical techniques belonging to AI but specific to costly, and therefore rare, data.

Research technology partners will be present: BRGM, CEA, IFPEN, IRSN, Safran Tech, Storengy, CNRS, and university partners from Centrale Lyon, Mines Saint-Étienne, Universities of Grenoble, Nice, and Toulouse.
The first day will be dedicated to training on R software produced within the framework of the Chair.

Invitation to the round table:
“4 years of research on small data with OQUAIDO”

For 4 years, the chair has been working on modeling rare data and its main applications (optimization, uncertainty propagation, inverse problems).
It will celebrate this key milestone during a public round table:

Wednesday, November 27, 2019, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM in amphitheater A104 (Espace Fauriel, Mines Saint-Étienne, 29 rue Ponchardier).

A key step in the progress of the work, resulting from a powerful synergy among the chair members: in pairs, university partners and technological research partners will provide a technical and human assessment of these first four years of the project and explore new perspectives.

“What limits can mathematics help overcome? Do they aid in decision-making? What added value do they bring to a business problem?”

Following the presentations, a dialogue will begin with the audience around these questions, a discussion moderated by Christine Berton, science journalist.
