This year, 85 students chose Mines Saint-Étienne’s Nuclear Engineering programme, in partnership with ISTP. They met on 14 September at the historic campus at 158, cours Fauriel, to begin a course that combines academic skills with professional immersion in a company.
A leading route into engineering, the work-study programme provides strong hands-on experience and paves the way for rapid entry into employment. Mines Saint-Étienne’s Nuclear Engineering degree therefore includes company immersion throughout the programme.
This programme is offered in partnership with the Institut Supérieur des Techniques de la Performance (ISTP) and under an agreement with the Institut National des Sciences et Techniques Nucléaires (INSTN). It guarantees personalised support, both at the school and in the company.

The Nuclear Engineering programme opens up career prospects at the heart of today’s energy, industrial and environmental challenges.
It trains engineers able to work across the entire life cycle of nuclear facilities, civilian or military:
- design;
- construction;
- operation;
- maintenance;
- decommissioning;
- waste management;
- safety.
Delivered 100% as a work-study programme, this degree is accredited by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieurs. It provides rare, in-demand expertise, at a time of energy transition when low-carbon electricity generation plays a central role.
