An environmental project launched in July by Benjamin Anthouard, an ISMIN student, won 2nd prize at the hackathon organized by Energy Lab in Australia. This innovative initiative led by an international multidisciplinary team is now being developed within the incubation programme. It will be presented on September 25, during the day dedicated to student entrepreneurship on campus.

Benjamin Anthouard, ISMIN student, class of 2017, completed his international experience through an internship in Australia at the Research School of Physics and Engineering, Australian National University, Canberra.
To meet the requirements of the Entrepreneurship Visa, he also registered as part of a team for a hackathon organized by Energy Lab, a platform that supports and fosters the emergence of cleantech startups.
Choosing a project that met Australian needs was challenging, but the experience was enriching.
The international team* placed 2nd in the hackathon: an award that allows the project to be incubated by the prestigious “Energy Lab”.
Back in France to complete his ISMIN programme, Benjamin enrolled in the Innovation Management elective and will continue the venture remotely with his teammates who remained in Canberra.

An application to install solar panels on small businesses

Many small business owners, who are not property owners, do not have the financial means to invest in solar panels. The application developed allows them to save on their electricity bills through solar energy: property owners make their roofs available to us and we install solar panels through crowdfunding
Investors earn money by selling the energy generated to the business owner at a price lower than that of the utility provider, and the shop owner earns income through renting out their roof.

“I participated in the Hackathon to discover entrepreneurship and we went beyond that thanks to a high-performing team: we decided to develop our project within the incubation programme.”

*The team consists of Chithral M. Kodagoda, a Sri Lankan student pursuing a Master’s in renewable energy (ANU, Canberra), Abbey Kellett, an Australian student pursuing a Master’s in Art & Commerce (ANU, Canberra), Christine Luo, Taiwanese, programme evaluation manager, Department of Premier & Cabinet, Sydney, and Benjamin Anthouard, ISMIN student.

Entrepreneurship Day on September 25 at Campus G. Charpak Provence will introduce new ISMIN students to the Entrepreneurship Visa, particularly the PEPITE Provence initiative and Student Entrepreneurship, including 36H Chrono and Les Entrepr’ Aix-Marseille. Part of the class of 2018 will also present to a jury the initiatives undertaken last year, including the IMT challenge.
