On the Aix-Marseille-Provence campus of Mines Saint-Étienne, SPOT (Students & Partners Open Transfer), the former refectory is being transformed into a hub for academics, experimentation, business support, and scientific culture where students, learners, businesses, institutional partners, schools, and the general public will come together. The project is funded under the State-Region Contract Plan 2021–2027, by the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, the South Region – Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the Bouches-du-Rhône Department, and the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis

The SPOT building will house three characteristic spaces of Mines Saint-Étienne on the Provence Campus:

  • La Rotonde and its cultural and scientific programming through an experimentation link and an exhibition space
  • The IoT Center and the companies that the center supports in their digital transition as part of the European Move2digital project.
  • The “pedagogical gray room” for training microelectronics operators in partnership with the Industry Apprentice Training Center of Provence.

It will also host student associations for robotics and scientific culture. The ultimate ambition is to have the campus labeled as an “AI acculturation site” as part of the South Region, AI Territory project.
