The recruitment mission took place from November 5 to 9: 75 Chinese students applying to an Institute school for the 2019 academic year took the examinations—a significant increase compared to 2017 (+70% of candidates interviewed) and a qualitative improvement with a high success rate on the written tests, which are known to be challenging.
75 Chinese candidates took the written examinations (mathematics and physics) in Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi’an, Nanjing, or Beijing, and 65 of them reached the eligibility threshold and were therefore invited to the motivation interview.
The delegation consisted of Laurent Baudry, International Office Mines-Douai, Paul Wheal, Head of International Division Mines Saint-Étienne, Caroline Thiery, International Office Mines Nancy, Jules Leconte, IMT General Management, Françoise André, International Office IMT Mines Alès, Jane Geng, Pharos Education Beijing, Jean-Michel Guillot, International Office IMT Mines Alès, Jean-Paul Ramond, Mission Officer IMT Mines Albi
All agree that many candidates of excellent quality were interviewed to join an IMT school for its French-style engineering program.
The IMT schools are now reviewing the applications to offer candidates admission based on the quality of their files and their disciplinary specializations (ICM and ISMIN programs for Mines Saint-Étienne).
Admitted students will begin the administrative procedures to join one of our schools for the 2019 academic year.
