This is excellent news for our School, which has been carrying out a wide range of initiatives for several years for its staff, students and audiences. It was one of the three institutions shortlisted in the “Award for teaching gender equality” category of the #Ingenieuses’18 competition, organised by the Cdefi. The awards will be presented on May 25 in Paris. In the meantime, our warmest congratulations to the Project team for this initiative.
Created in 2011, this competition is open to engineering schools accredited by the CTI, to all female engineering students at these schools, and to practising women engineers. It aims to combat preconceived ideas and gender stereotypes, and to inspire engineering vocations among young girls.
Mines Saint-Étienne’s application highlights various initiatives launched or supported by the School, such as the organisation of annual meetings (regular initiatives in a variety of formats), hosting panel discussions, the “science for all” workshops (La Rotonde), Womines initiatives (student association), awards (L’Oréal Foundation scholarship in 2017), as well as educational initiatives (MOOC on gender diversity) and the School’s commitment (signing the equality charter).
The School’s determination to offer these awareness-raising initiatives has been further strengthened in particular by the establishment of an women-men equality committee created at the end of 2016.
Congratulations to Christine Berton, Raphaëlle Jarrige and Hélène Pangot for their commitment to this application!
For your information, the jury reviewed 35 projects submitted by schools, 88 applications from female engineering students and 94 applications from women engineers. It is made up of experts and the operation’s partners: the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie, BNEI, Campus-Channel, the Commission des titres d’ingénieur, Elles bougent, Femmes ingénieures, IESF, Onisep and Pasc@line.
The winners were honoured on May 25 in Paris.
