To mark the launch of the SIRA Chair (Intergranular segregation and fracture properties of low-alloy steels), Mines Saint-Étienne invites you to a lecture by Yves Bréchet.

A member of the French Academy of Sciences and former High Commissioner for Atomic Energy, Yves Bréchet is honouring us with his presence and his expertise, focused on the crucial metallurgical challenges for the future of nuclear power plants.

The SIRA Chair is a research partnership between Mines Saint-Étienne and the companies Framatome and EDF. It is a winner of the ANR (French National Research Agency) “Industrial Chairs 2024” programme.

Its objective is to improve understanding of intergranular embrittlement and ageing of low-alloy steel components in nuclear reactors currently in service in France, particularly with a view to a possible extension of plant operating lifetimes beyond 60 years.

🗓️ Join us on Thursday, May 28 at 2:00 PM on the Saint-Étienne campus!
