Comprising various spaces and tools dedicated to future medicine, the #Future Medicine scientific and technological platform brings together all health-related activities of the strategic project Mines Saint-Étienne Tech to support companies in the AURA and Sud-PACA regions towards the industry of the future. It will be inaugurated on June 14 at the School’s Centre for Biomedical and Healthcare Engineering on the Campus Santé Innovations, in the presence of the project partners.

This multi-functional platform relies on the expertise of the teams from the Centre for Biomedical and Healthcare Engineering: it will foster co-creation as well as experimentation in direct interaction with industry professionals and stakeholders. It comprises three spaces:

  • MedTechLab: a living lab for experimentation (full-scale tests in a smart apartment) and observation of health uses and their evolution, with a focus on the silver economy.
  • MedTechDesign: an open lab for co-creation and design thinking in healthcare, focused on medical devices as well as the organization of care systems and health services.
  • 3DFabLab: an industrial demonstrator dedicated to the additive manufacturing of custom powders and bioceramics for biomedical applications.

Innovation support, and technology transfer

Several tools specially developed within this platform to aid the development of industry professionals complete the system:

  • Virtual Hospital (HoVi): a digital twin of the hospital and the provision of innovative applications related to virtual and augmented reality.
  • Surgical Simulator: a support for deploying digital simulation tools for surgical gestures, user-oriented, i.e., for the surgeon.
  • Aerosol Therapy / Inhaled Particles: a usage-based evaluation of devices such as e-cigarettes, but also other types of medical devices (e.g., inhalers or nebulizers).
  • Artificial Intelligence Laboratory: a digital space for collecting and organizing data generated for and by the components of #FutureMedicine, as well as a test bench for analyzing brain waves. A high-performance computing grid allows for rapid visualization of numerical simulation results.

The official inauguration at 11:30 AM will take place in the presence of the various partners of the #Future Medicine project, including Eovi Mcd Mutuelle – AÉSIO Group, Eovi Santé et Services, and the Fédération Nationale de la Mutualité Française.
