Supported by numerous stakeholders (institutional, private, industrial, etc.) – including Mines Saint-Étienne through the DIWII platform – the Digital Region Campus has just been inaugurated. On February 25, Laurent Wauquiez, President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, met with the various project stakeholders, accompanied by journalists and politicians. Spanning 11 hectares, the Digital Region Campus is the result of five years of work supported by Juliette Jarry, Vice-President for Digital Affairs of the AURA Region.
During the day, Laurent Wauquiez visited the DIWII platform (Digital Intelligence Way for Industry Institute), of which Mines Saint-Étienne is a partner to promote the industry of the future. He met and spoke with Bruno Chavagneux, the platform manager. DIWII covers 800 m². Its mission? To present and showcase the characteristics of an Industry of the Future SME, including its industrial processes and support services.

Laurent Wauquiez also affirmed his desire to “create a synergy between students, researchers, and industries. We are working for the industries in our region.” He subsequently emphasized that the campus is primarily regional and aims to encourage all companies and schools focused on the digital transition to join the project. His speech provided an opportunity to reiterate the goal of the Digital Region Campus: “first, to train our students for digital careers. We are also inventing the jobs of tomorrow by developing concrete projects with our regional companies. This is the place of our future for young people, for training, and for the careers of tomorrow. Instead of merely undergoing these digital transformations, let’s use them as a lever to bring back jobs and projects. […] The goal is to support the digital transition of our industries.” He continued by stating that “this place is unique, […] it is the core of the digital transformation of our industries.”
