This work by Yann Gavet and Johan Debayle, teacher-researchers at Mines Saint-Étienne, has just been published by Spartacus-IDH editions. It presents a set of both theoretical and applied tutorials on the concepts covered in image processing and analysis within the Ingénieur Civil des Mines and Master of Science in Engineering curricula.

“While our students use Matlab to complete them, we have made the effort to transcribe all the solutions into Python to target other audiences, particularly students in preparatory classes.”

This book is a collection of tutorials and exercises taught within the Ingénieur Civil des Mines curriculum and the Master of Science in Engineering in Mathematical Imaging and Spatial Pattern Analysis (MISPA).
In recent years, project-based learning has been used to illustrate theoretical concepts with real and concrete applications.
Students and professors alike will find a large number of tutorials, categorized by field, to familiarize themselves with the theoretical concepts of image processing and analysis.
