Cybersecurity and computer science are at the heart of the framework agreement signed on May 14 by Mines Saint-Étienne and the French Navy: a partnership that encompasses education, research, and activities focused on these flagship themes of Campus Georges Charpak Provence.

The mutual commitment of this partnership concerns initial and continuing education, research, and training in cyber crisis management. The agreement defines the principles of collaboration between Mines Saint-Étienne and the French Navy in fields and subjects related to cybersecurity and computer science, two recognized areas of expertise on the Gardanne Campus that particularly meet the needs of the Navy.

These collaborations will take the form of various actions, such as offering internships (engineering and Master’s programs), supporting preselected students through a scholarship system, cooperation between the School and the cyber chair of the École Navale, as well as proposing and funding PhD theses, particularly in the field of cybersecurity.

The two partners are also committed to working jointly on related projects and events: conferences/career meetings, outreach activities (Innov’actions, hackathons, etc.), visits to Navy units or specialized computer science or cybersecurity centers…

The agreement was signed on May 14 in Gardanne by Mathieu Drevon, Captain, Head of the Navy Recruitment Service, and Pascal Ray, Director of Mines Saint-Étienne.

Nadia El Mrabet, lecturer-researcher at the Centre of Microelectronics in Provence, and Michel Fiocchi, industrial relations delegate on the campus, are warmly thanked for their commitment to this partnership and the follow-up of actions.
