157 civil mining engineers and 35 PhDs officially received their diplomas in the presence of 600 guests. Pascal Laurin, Division Director at Bosch Rexroth France and Industry 4.0 Director at Bosch France, sponsored this wonderful ceremony, which featured numerous activities, speeches, and heartfelt congratulations.

“The engineer of the future will need to be ingenious, attentive to others, and invent new societal and economic models,” Pascal Laurin, patron of the ICM graduation ceremony.

The ceremony was opened by Pascal Ray, Director, Pascal Laurin, patron, and Samy Kéfi-Jérôme, Vice-President of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region, who highlighted “the constantly cultivated excellence and strategic vision of our school.”

Representatives of the ICM 2016 graduating class, Kévin Clément, Eloise Lewansdowski, Valentin Pouzet, and Marie Vaillant, recounted their three years spent in Saint-Étienne, recalling shared memories and highlights within their class.

They also warmly thanked the school’s teachers and staff, who were present and available throughout their studies, as well as Pascal Laurin for the messages conveyed to the graduating class on February 8.

Echoing the patron’s messages on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Xavier Olagne, Director of Education, and Marc Roelens, Head of ICM Curriculum Administration, reiterated the essential role of young engineers in today’s world and the consideration of environmental and social factors in our curricula.
These messages were also conveyed by Serge Vigier, President of Mines Saint-Étienne Alumni, who also spoke on behalf of the Mines-Télécom Foundation, outlining its role and missions: “Graduates are the best ambassadors of our school; they represent the connection and intergenerational solidarity.”

* David Delafosse, Director of Research and Innovation, recognized the new PhDs from the Saint-Étienne Doctoral School of Sciences, Engineering, and Health (EDSIS). 35 theses were defended in 2019, research work prepared within the School’s centers across 9 disciplines.

6 special mentions were awarded:

Garance Calamel achieved a remarkable academic record for her
excellence, notably completing a double degree at Imperial College London in Biomedical Engineering. She deserves the “jury’s congratulations.”

Pauline Jacqueminer: As a class representative, she contributed throughout her studies to communication between students and administration. Having taken a gap year in London for assistance missions in disadvantaged neighborhoods, she also embodies the humanist ICM engineer.

Marta Martinez Reyes: Initially admitted for a simple academic exchange, Marta ultimately chose to stay in Saint-Étienne to complete the full ICM program. The first double degree holder from Carlos III University in Madrid, she notably got involved in sustainable development by contributing to the 1st edition of the Climate Fresk; she also invested herself in the Mines International Students association.

Corentin Muraro successfully balanced his academic activities, including a third year at emlyon, with his involvement in extracurricular activities (President of the BDS). His excellent results earned him the jury’s congratulations.

Valentin Pouzet was a class representative, and also a student representative on the IMT Board of Directors. Constantly contributing to good communication between students and administration, he
also achieved excellent academic results.

Baptiste PY: In addition to excellent academic results, Baptiste successfully completed a remarkable international scientific journey, a globe-trotter of the graduating class, across 3 continents: semester 7 in Germany, 2A internship in Australia, then an 18-month double degree in Korea.
