131 civil engineers of mines, 28 doctors, and 12 holders of an Advance Master label officially received their degrees on February 16 at the Saint-Étienne Convention Center in the presence of 400 guests. Thierry Chiche, ICM E89, sponsored this beautiful, moving, and unforgettable ceremony—a highlight of the school’s life punctuated by numerous speeches, congratulations, and entertainment.

After opening remarks by Director Pascal Ray and Yvon Raak, Chairman of the School Board, speakers took turns to congratulate the graduates:

• Thierry Chiche, ICM E89, IFP graduate, Executive Chairman of the Elsan Group and co-founder of My Anatol:

“The world belongs to you and nothing is impossible! This degree offers you multiple possibilities, but you must maintain the ambition to seize them. Give meaning to your actions. Show gratitude, humility, and tenacity.” (find the interview with the ceremony sponsor here)

Thibaut Hamm, Lucas Lavenir, and Pauline Jacquemier, representatives of the ICM Class of 2015, retraced their three years spent in Saint-Étienne, recalling both the qualities of the engineers and the highlights shared within the class!

Xavier Olagne, Director of Education, Marc Roelens, Head of the ICM cycle, Serge Vigier, President of Mines Saint-Étienne Alumni, Olivier Fleurot, President of the Mines Saint-Étienne Foundation: “Graduates are the best ambassadors of our school; they represent the link and solidarity between generations.”

Among the 131 new civil engineers of mines, 95 are double-degree holders: 43 completed a Master of Science in Engineering from the School, and 54 obtained a second foreign or French degree from a partner institution. 31 also obtained a third degree, and two of them even earned a fourth!

Seven special mentions were awarded:
  • Diego Léon: A very active member of the Arts Bureau and the Theater Club, he demonstrated innovative creativity by opening doors to new forms (open mic nights). He is awarded the “Creativity Prize.”
  • Thibaut Hamm: Extremely active in all areas of student life and a unifying force for the class, he embodies the concept of the altruistic engineer. Two qualities define him particularly: generosity and reliability.
  • Lucas Lavenir is recognized for the balance he found between academic involvement (excellent results) and extracurricular commitment (class representative, remarkable contributor to the organization of this ceremony).
  • Victorine Poncelet: She played a leading role in numerous associations (BDE, BDS, Mines International Students, WoMines). She also contributed to the white paper “Organization and Management in the Industry of the Future.”

A “quadruple graduate” who receives the jury’s congratulations!
