As Director of the SPIN center, Ana Cameirao is dedicated to promoting engineering and scientific careers among young women.

Last December, she participated in the 5th edition of Elles bougent pour l’orientation at Antoine-Guichard middle school in Veauche, Loire. The event brought together around one hundred 9th-grade students for roundtable discussions and exchanges with various speakers from the engineering, research, and industry sectors.

Today, it is important to remember that engineering remains a predominantly male sector. At Mines Saint-Étienne, we work to highlight female students in each program, knowing that the risk of a decline in female researchers and engineers in both scientific careers and executive committees is not negligible.

This lack of diversity inevitably hinders innovation. That is why students at Antoine-Guichard middle school were invited to dare, to envision themselves, and to imagine a future in scientific and technical careers. Ana Cameirao plans to reach out to elementary schools to raise awareness among young girls from an early age by providing them with the advice and encouragement they need.
