In early October, Jérémie POURCHEZ (Research Director at the Centre for Biomedical and Healthcare Engineering and head of health-engineering dual degrees) and Emelyne GELAS (instructional designer in charge of the preparatory course for health-engineering dual degrees) traveled to Rabat, Morocco, to meet with the delegation from the Abulcasis International University of Health Sciences (UIASS).

This high-level meeting aimed to lay the foundations for “Doctor – Engineer” and “Dentist – Engineer” dual degrees. Our two institutions share a common ambition: to train a new generation of doctors and dentists capable of integrating technology, innovation, and engineering at the heart of medical practice.

Mines Saint-Étienne and UIASS are planning to establish a joint pathway starting from the 5th year of medicine / dental medicine, which will allow Moroccan students to enter the 2nd year of the ICM program in Saint-Étienne. However, before implementation, both entities must agree on a convention establishing the precise framework for this partnership, which could be signed in early 2026.
