On Thursday, September 25, the Autonomy/Disability Commission of Mines Saint-Étienne organized a Sport/Disability Cohesion Day to raise awareness of disability sports on our two campuses.
The objective of this event was to better understand the realities of disability, exchange with committed athletes, and live impactful experiences in a friendly and supportive environment. A sports programme consisting of boccia, wheelchair basketball, and sport shooting. It also included conferences and inspiring testimonials from the athletes present, who guided participants through a sensory journey.
With the help of the French Disability Sports Federation, the school’s students and staff committed themselves to inclusion. This is the role of the Mines Saint-Étienne Diversity Mission, for which Hélène Pangot and Julie Jaffre are the representatives. Their objective within the Autonomy/Disability Commission is to build the school’s disability policy, identify training actions for staff and students, and support associations that raise awareness of disability, such as Humani Mines or Solidar’ISMIN.
We would like to thank the organizing team of this day and the volunteers present for their energy and supervision.
