As director of La Rotonde and president of Amcsti, Guillaume Desbrosse has the honor of serving on the jury for the national final of the “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” competition: we see this as magnificent recognition of the science communication and outreach work carried out by the center for scientific, technical, and industrial culture at Mines Saint-Étienne!

“This competition, organized in France by the Conference of University Presidents and the CNRS, reveals doctoral students’ ability to communicate research work to the public and raises awareness of the importance of science-society dialogue”

The jury is composed of five individuals chosen for their openness to science communication and the sharing of science. The national final will take place in Grenoble on June 13.
Guillaume Desbrosse took part in the 2018 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes regional final.

It should also be noted that for several years, La Rotonde has offered and led science culture training programmes for doctoral students, as part of the Saint-Étienne Doctoral School of Science, Engineering and Health. This introduction to science communication and outreach techniques takes place in January and February, and also helps raise students’ awareness of dialogue with citizens to participate in the My Thesis in 180 Seconds competition!
The CCSTI La Rotonde has joined the national “European Researchers’ Night” network and will coordinate the regional event in September 2019.

INVENTAIRE(S)!: an engaging conference on the evolution of management innovation!

The event organized on January 24 by La Rotonde and the Municipal Archives on this theme was followed with great interest. “Taylorism, Fayolism, agility, uberization, startups, …
How is management evolving? What connections or breaks exist from one model to another?”
It was led by Luc Rojas, historian, and Maud Damperat, professor of innovation marketing. Participants then took part in a guided tour of the exhibition “Inventaire! Casino and Saint-Étienne” on view until September 22, 2019 at the Municipal Archives.

SUPRA! Physics, Design and Levitation

“The exhibition-workshop is co-produced by the research laboratory “Physics in a Different Way” at Paris-Sud University, La Rotonde, and the Cité du Design in Saint-Étienne. It offers a surprising and sensory visit where design communicates, plays, imagines the future, and showcases the world of physics and superconductivity. A surprising and sensory visit composed of 4 spaces…” to discover from March 12 to May 4, 2019 at La Rotonde.
