Admission to an Advance Master programme at Mines Saint-Étienne is for motivated candidates who wish to acquire specialized expertise recognized by companies.

Our process is designed to be rigorous, transparent, and structured to assess both your skills, your potential, and the alignment of your professional project with the programme’s objectives.

The school supports every step: application submission, interview, finding a host company, and securing funding.

Admission Steps

🎯 1. Application Schedule

  • Applications open: November
  • Close: end of August
  • Program start: October

👉 The earlier you apply, the greater your chances of finding a host company.

📂 2. Application Submission

The first step is to submit an application file including:

  • CV
  • Transcripts and degrees
  • Supporting documents depending on your background (initial education, employee status, international, etc.)

🔎 3. Application Review

The recruitment department examines:

  • the suitability of the applicant’s background with the prerequisites of the Advance Master programme,
  • the professional project,
  • the stated motivations,
  • experience related to the field of the Advance Master.

Two possible outcomes:

  • Eligible → Invitation to an interview
  • Not eligible → Notification by email

💬 4. Admission Interview

📅 From January to end of August – ⏱️ Duration: 45 minutes.

Candidates whose applications are admissible are invited for an interview (in person at Mines Saint-Étienne) with the following objectives:

  • motivation and project coherence,
  • to assess suitability for the Advance Master programme,
  • professional maturity,
  • identify support needs for finding a host company.

Following the interview:

  • Admissible → Provisional admission letter.
  • Not admissible → Notification by email (with the possibility of a phone call if needed).

🏢 5. Search for a host company

Finding a company is mandatory for this work-study programme.

The school actively supports this step:

  • Advice on CV and cover letter
  • Access to offers from partner companies
  • Targeting assistance and proactive approach
  • Support for making contact
  • Regular exchanges with the teaching team

👉 The candidate remains the main actor in their search but benefits from genuine support to identify a mission consistent with the program.

🧑‍⚖️ 6. Admission Board

Admission becomes final when:

  • the application is validated,
  • the interview is conclusive,
  • a host company is found,
  • funding is secured.

🔔 7. Continuous support until the start of the academic year

The school provides personalized support:

  • funding validation,
  • assistance with administrative procedures.
