Join an excellent academic program at the heart of biomedical innovation
The Master of Science in Engineering in Health Engineering (BMED) is a selective programme at Master 2 (M2) level, designed for high-level French and international students. Admission is based on application review, aiming to assess academic excellence, the suitability of the scientific profile, and the candidate’s motivation for biomedical R&D.
Target Audience and Mandatory Prerequisites
The Master of Science in Engineering BMED is intended for students wishing to develop a career in a rapidly growing sector (biomechanics, biomaterials, nanomedicine, medical devices). For your application to be admissible, you must meet the following criteria:
| Criteria | Expectation | Detail |
| Academic Level | Validated Scientific Master 1 (M1) | Equivalent degree validating 240 ECTS (Bac + 4), obtained in France or internationally. |
| Required Fields | Prior relevant scientific Academics | Engineering Sciences, Materials Science, Physics, or scientific disciplines related to Bioengineering. |
| Computational Skills | Basic Knowledge | Basic computer programming concepts required (Python, Matlab, or equivalent language). |
| Motivation | Strong Interest in the Sector | Desire to work at the interface of technology, biology, and medicine. |
Typical candidate profiles:
- Engineering Students (M2).
- Science Students (biomechanics, biology, physics, materials, etc.).
- Professionals wishing to specialize in biomedical fields.
Recommended Prior Skills
A strong foundation in at least one of these fields significantly strengthens your application:
- Fundamental Sciences: Biology / Physiology, Mechanics / Applied Mathematics, Physics / Materials.
- Technology: Instrumentation / Sensors.
Language Requirements (English)
- Teaching
As the programme is taught 90–95% in English, excellent written and oral comprehension is essential. - Certification
An official test (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) is not required by default, but may be requested for certain international profiles to confirm proficiency.
Application Procedure
Selection, carried out by the academic committee, takes place in three stages.
1. Submission of the application file
The complete application file must contain, at a minimum, the following documents:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV), detailing your academic background and professional experience/internships.
- Motivation Letter, explaining your professional project and its relevance to the Master of Science in Engineering.
- Official Transcripts for your entire academic career (Bachelor’s and Master 1).
- Diplomas: copies of your previous diplomas.
- English Proficiency Certificate (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS or equivalent) if English is not the applicant’s native language or language of instruction.
- French Language Test (TEF, DELF…) for non-French-speaking students.
- Recommendations: academic and/or professional recommendation letters (optional depending on the application platform).
A. French and European Union applicants
B. International Applicants: “Études en France” Procedure
If you are a foreign student not a national of the EEA (nor Switzerland/Monaco/Andorra) and reside in a country covered by “Études en France”, you must complete two steps:
This step is essential to obtain a visa and may also provide access to scholarships.
International students are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
